Flying Accountant

Accountancy is not the most exciting profession so what better way to spice it up than by learning to fly? On this channel I'll share my experiences flying and occasionally drop in a lighthearted (sometimes more serious) discussion of accounting and taxation topics every now and again.

I currently fly a Piper PA28 (G-BTNV) out of City Airport Manchester (Barton) and a Cessna 172 (G-GYAV) out of Liverpool.

Just a few tax year end reminders to make sure you use up your personal allowances, a run down of HMRCs provisions to make regular payments on account for self assessment and an overview of the ATED (Annual Tax on Enveloped Dwellings) registration requirements. Oh - and a trip to Leeds Bradford airport in the Cessna 172 (G-GYAV) from Liverpool.
A few local VFR circuits in a PA28 G-BTNV at City Airport Manchester (Barton). Ran out of time to finish editing the trip to Leeds/Bradford in the C172 from Liverpool so hopefully this will keep you occupied in the meantime - a test of your endurance this one at 38mins!

Next one will be shorter - I promise!

One or two things missed which is the whole point of recording the flights :-)
Is it worth using a private airplane for business travel to visit clients? I flew to Elstree from Liverpool in a Cessna 172 with my brother to visit a client. We could have driven or gone on the train but where's the fun in that!
A few last minute tax year end reminders and our return VFR flight in the PA28 back from Welshpool to City Airport Manchester (Barton)
Just a few comments on the recent budget and how the provisions will affect most people - nothing too heavy - I promise.
Flying has been significantly restricted over the last 12 months or so. We took the opportunity last summer to take a short VFR flight from City Airport Manchester (Barton - EGCB) for my first trip to Welshpool (EGCW).

I will definitely be going back to Welshpool once Covid restrictions are lifted. It was a beautiful place and a very friendly bunch.
"Where's the fresh air? I'm gonna be sick." After the first lockdown, like most pilots, I was itching to get back up in the air and getting a few circuits in at City Airport Manchester (Barton) was in order. Great for me - not so great for Joanna.

No tax discussions in this one but probably worth mentioning that whilst HMRC have announced that they will not issue penalties for late filed returns until the end of Feb, the tax still remains payable and they will charge interest on late paid tax!
Currency Fight and Tax payment Deadline Take 2.
